Q’s Idiosyncrasies: The Gentleman

We occasionally hear from the jokers that Q was raised to be very gentleman-like by his parents. That’s all the evidence we need here, but if you need more then look no further than to the fact that Q is the joker that carries himself with highest standard of “dignity”. Of course, for the jokers this standard is pretty low considering the antics they get into.

Nevertheless, it shows clearly for Q in the sense that he has a limit to what he’s willing to do. Q is the one joker you can count on decisively taking a loss for challenges he feels he is not up to. He’s even on a few occasions jokingly said he will quit show on encountering some crazy challenges.

Basically he’s the polar opposite of Murr and Joe who never cease to amaze us with their envelope pushing antics. Q would gladly take a loss for far less disgusting stuff Murr breezes through and would reluctantly resign at what Joe clowns through with self-assured buffoonery (in the real world we call it balls of steel).

Besides this, Q also excels in the more obvious gentleman definition – he’s no doubt the more polite one but if you’ve watched the series closer, then you know Q is the most chivalrous one. The fact that he keeps cats should perhaps be a testament not just to his patience, but this fact as well.

Notable Episodes

Impractical Jokers Season 1 Episode 16 Supercuts
Q’s very first instance being the absolute gentleman. He was doing quite well by all estimates until a cute lady entered the elevator, and immediately he couldn’t go with asking her to pop up a pimple on his back. So he did what has now become a staple of his: he lets the cat out of the bag to the woman that she’s on a hidden camera show. The gallant gesture apparently paid off as he wound up receiving the mythical digits.

Impractical Jokers Season 3 Episode 7 Scarytales
The jokers are mingling at a singles event and all but Q got through the challenge with a win. Why? Well, Q only had to reply to a lady that her insurance brokerage job was boring but that was more than enough for him to take a loss, yet the rest of the jokers had been through significantly much worse compared to this.

Impractical Jokers Season 3 Episode 31 Brother-in-Loss
Same script as above. Q is doing very well until a lovely lady comes along and he can’t stoop to dropping his pants in front of her. He proceeds to proudly take the loss, but not without letting out the secret that they’re filming the show.

Impractical jokers Season 6 Episode 11 Stuffed Turkey
What was meant to be punishment to hurt Q chances only ended up hurting one thing – his belly. The jokers’ plan had backfired! Somehow, Q managed to charm his way through a speed dating event while chomping away through two turkey legs. The girls seem to like it, the waitress certainly more than the others.

Impractical Jokers Season 7 Episode 6 Turning the Tables
Here is one of the many times Q has refused to say something inappropriate to a woman on account of his gentleman-like discretions. In any case, it wasn’t that vulgar; he only had to say that he makes some erotic VR on the side, but that was enough to prompt him into making an executive decision for both him and Sal; that is, lest he gave Sal an opportunity to do it.

Impractical Jokers Season 7 Episode 17 Like A Boss
Q can’t bring himself to say anything bad to two ladies and a young lad on the line at the Fast & Furious: Supercharged.

Impractical Jokers Season 7 Episode 20 Hump Day
Q here was doing so well. He had begrudgingly already managed to look at lady “indignantly for the way she was holding her fork”, now all he had to do is ask her one more question rather rudely. He couldn’t do it and just like that racked another avoidable loss.
